Overview

The WJC Youth Department creates programming outside of formal school to encourage our children to participate in the Conservative movement’s youth programming for children in 3rd grade through high school.  The Youth Department is also responsible for college outreach.  For more information, please email youth@wjcenter.org

Chaverim is for children in grades 3-5. Children meet several times a year for fun activities, with a Jewish twist. Our goal is to pave the way for greater participation in youth groups for older children, Kadima and USY.

Kadima is a youth program for children in grades 6-8 that holds events approximately once a month. Programs provide social, athletic and recreational opportunities, often incorporating a mitzvah component. Our Kadima kids can also participate in other local and regional Kadima programs. Kadima is a stepping stone for participation in USY.

USY is the cornerstone of the Conservative movement’s youth programs.  The goal of our USY chapter is to create an environment in which our teens can further their interest in Judaism and Israel and have their own WJC community.  USY has its own board and works with the Youth Director to plan social, athletic and recreational programs for its members.  USY also creates programs to raise money for tzedakah, with the group determining where funds raised should go.  Our USY chapter is part of the METNY region and members can participate in regional and national programs.

College Outreach:  The Youth Department runs programs for our college students designed to keep them connected with their Judaism and with WJC. If you would like to register your college student, please contact youth@wjcenter.org
