Youth Services
Youth Services (except Teen minyan, see below) are held every Shabbat and Yom Tov from 10:45am to 11:45am. At the end of their services, children are encouraged to return to the main sanctuary to participate in or lead closing prayers such as Ein Keloheinu, Aleinu, Anim Z’mirot and Adon Olam.
We offer:
- Torah for Tots: infant through kindergarten. Torah for Tots is a fun, participatory program that introduces children to the delights of Shabbat while they learn Hebrew prayers and vocabulary through song, dance, play and stories. The service concludes with a Kiddush for the children. Parents are encouraged to remain with children for this special hour.
- Junior Congregation: This service for Kindergarteners through 3rd graders is designed to increase children’s knowledge of the Shabbat service and the Hebrew prayers by having children lead and participate in the service. The program also uses stories and games to teach about the week’s Torah portion as well as the Jewish holidays and their Jewish heritage.
- Youth Services: This service is for children in grades four through six. As children gain in their knowledge of the Shabbat morning service, they are better able to participate in and help lead this service. Youth services help teach “prayer skills” that will last a lifetime.
- Teen Minyan: This service is designed for 7th grade and up. The service will be adult-directed but the goal is to engage teens in a participatory Shabbat morning service with their peers. 2010-2011 teen minyan dates are:
- October 16th
- November 6th
- December 4th
- December 18th
- January 8th
- February 12th
- March 5th
- April 9th
- May 7th
- June 4th
