Grab your Pirate Hats and set sail (from your couch) with Dr. Stanley Mirvis, Assistant Professor of History and Harold and Jean Grossman Chair of Jewish Studies at Arizona State University (author of The Jews of Eighteenth-Century Jamaica: A Testamentary History of a Diaspora in Transition (Yale University Press, 2020), as he presents a dynamic Zoom presentation to WJC friends and family on Sephardic life in one of the most beautiful yet brutal parts of the Caribbean. Professor Stanley Mirvis guides us on a visual tour of Jewish life in a tropical slave society. He addresses themes including Sephardi paths of migration, Jewish slave ownership, civil rights, and the Jewish participation in Caribbean piracy.
