At a time when racial and ethnic tensions\, a nd hate crimes – both anti-Semitic and anti-Black – have risen to leve ls not seen in decades\, our alliance\, despite its long history\, has bec ome increasingly complex to navigate.\n\n\n\nFollowing antisemitic comment s by Nick Cannon and other Black celebrities\, Rabbi Marans befriended and conducted public dialogues with Cannon\, revealing both significant chall enges and potential pathways forward in Black-Jewish relations (see one at  \;https://www.facebook.com/AJCGlobal/videos/a-conversation-with-nick- cannon/1355781951293363/). \; The lessons learned from that experience can illuminate our perceptions of the other within each community and how best to address them\, particularly in the local context.
