 s from Testimonies
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a very special musical event as we welcome Dr. D. Z
 isl Slepovitch\, internationally renowned multi-instrumentalist\, composer
 \, ethnomusicologist and musician-in-residence at Yale University’s Fort
 unoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies\, along with Sarah Myerson (
 vocals)\, and Joshua Camp (accordion). The program will include video test
 imony from Holocaust survivors followed by performances of new arrangement
 s of their songs\, which were originally sung in towns and villages\, ghet
 tos and concentration camps across Eastern Europe. Dr. Slepovitch will di
 scuss his research on the origins of these songs\, the experiences of the 
 survivors who recalled them and the inspiration the songs provided in trag
 ic times.\n\nThe program will begin with a Holocaust Memorial Service at 
 10:15 am in WJC's Holocaust Memorial Garden (weather permitting\; otherwis
 e the service will be in the Chapel)\, followed by the Zisl Slepovitch Ens
