High Holidays 5787

Our Theme for 5787

The High Holidays bring us the concept of teshuva – which we often translate as repentance, but which more deeply means return. This year at WJC, our theme invites us to return to our purposeful path, our core values, and our spiritual selves through three intentions:

  • Rest – In Judaism, rest is an activity in itself. It is not a distraction from our everyday, but a deliberate stopping in order to seek connection.
  • Connect – Stepping out of the exhausting routine of work and life to reconnect with the world, with our Creator, and with ourselves.
  • Renew – The goal of resting and connecting is to renew – not to become someone different, but to find our way back to our essential selves.
