ECC Extended Day

ECC Extended Day

All classes are mixed age groups of 3- and 4-year-old children. All classes incorporate the concept of Jewish values.
3s meet until 1:30 or 2:30 • 4s meet until 2:30

MONDAYS

Art Studio & Woodworking
Join Naomi for Woodworking and Art. This class is perfect for the woodshop and tool enthusiast. Projects will include using saws, as well as other tools we may not have experienced in our morning classes. With a wider knowledge of tools, students will be guided through making objects that are meaningful to them; many made from recycled materials.  On nice days we will venture outside not just to play, but to explore and create with the natural materials that surround us. The Jewish value of Bal Tashcheet (not wasting or destroying needlessly) will be central in this class. As always, safety is our priority. All children will wear safety goggles and have one on one supervision while working with tools.

TUESDAYS

Nutrition & Cooking

Delicious, nutritious, and wholesome treats are on the menu. Your little chef will learn different cooking and baking techniques with Carol. Children will learn about food groups and the importance of a balanced diet. We will learn about Shmirat HaGuf (caring for the body), Hakan et Hakol (feeding everyone), L’Dor Vador (connections generations through food)
We will eat what we create and send some home to share with you! A collection of our recipes in a cookbook will be our culminating activity.

WEDNESDAYS

Sports & Fitness (3s & 4s)
A rotation of multiple sports including t-ball, yoga/mindfulness, soccer, kickball, and basketball. Every class will begin with a warm-up, followed by stretching and ending with a cool down. We will learn about Shmirat HaGuf (caring for our bodies) with physical fitness. A fun time for all children who are on the go and love to move!

THURSDAYS

Gardening, Animals & Nature (3s & 4s)
Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), Tza’ar Ba’alay Hayim (kindness to animals), Sh’mirat Ha’teva (protect nature, take care of the land, trees, plants and animals) are all Jewish values we will weave into this class.
Children will explore a variety of gardening techniques including traditional, aeroponic and kitchen garbage gardening with Ann. They will learn how to grow flowers, fruits and vegetables from seeds and roots. They will also explore the natural world including animals, trees and plants. If your child loves all things nature, this is the class for him/her!
