Showing Kindness at Home

By Aleza Kulp, Educational Director & Program Coordinator

There are a wide variety of PJ Library books that teach children about various mitzvot. While most of the books are story books, Be Kind: You Can Make the World a Happier Place by Naomi Shulman is about taking action with endless ways for us to bring kindness into this world, even if we are busy! Some actions can be goals for us in the future and others we can set into action right now.

One great suggestion—which you can start today—is make a thankful jar at home. Each day, have each family member write something they are thankful for. At the end of the month, your family can read all the comments together.

This book allows us to think of new ways to show kindness and personalize it to fit our own lives! If you have received this book from PJ Library, I highly recommend taking it off the book shelf and sharing it as a family.
