April 24, 2022, 10:00am (service) and 10:45am (conversation)

The morning will begin at 10:00 am with our annual Yom HaShoah Memorial Service, led by Rabbi Arnowitz and Holocaust Learning Center committee member Mark Russ, outside in the WJC Memorial Garden.

Following the service, at 10:45 am, acclaimed author Judy Batalion will speak about her groundbreaking book The Light of Days: The Untold Story of Women Resistance Fighters in Hitler’s Ghettos, which weaves together real-life tales of heroic Jewish women in Poland during the Holocaust. Hear about the young women who defied the Nazis and aided fellow Jews: how they smuggled guns in loaves of bread and coded intelligence messages in their braids. Judy Batalion, a gifted writer and dynamic speaker, will explore the reasons these crucial stories have been little known until now. Join us in the Activity Center for breakfast and an engaging, inspiring program; books will be available for sale. Please note, masks will be required for all attendees at this program.

The Memorial Service and Conversation with Judy Batalion can also be attended via Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83422160052?pwd=OWJ0d2RuWG9tUllqOG1NenJpWmpsZz09
