2023 marked the most difficult year in Israel’s history, beginning with an effort to diminish the judiciary’s power, sparking the largest sustained protest movement the nation has ever witnessed. This period of unrest ended on October 7, 2023, a day now remembered as the darkest in our history. Since that fateful day, Israel has been entrenched in conflict, enduring five long months of war and grappling with the reality of hostages held by Hamas. As we stand at this crossroads, Israel confronts a multitude of challenges, both from within and beyond its borders. In the coming months, how will we navigate these turbulent waters?

About Marc Schulman

Marc first made Aliyah in 1975 and subsequently served as an officer in the IDF. Since then, he has lived in both Israel and the US. For the past 13 years, Marc has resided in Tel Aviv, where he has worked as a columnist for Newsweek, the editor of Tel Aviv Diary, a frequent contributor on i24News, and the editor of Historycentral.com. Marc holds both a BA and an MA from Columbia. He and his family are former members of WJC.
