Andrea J. Stein will be here to discuss her new novel, Dear Eliza, and the current climate for Jewish Authors. It is not necessary to read the book to attend the event. Dessert and refreshments will be served.

Jewish Unpacked has called Dear Eliza a “top Jewish beach read,” describing it as “the perfect fit for Emily Henry and Katherine Center readers,” and in their new list of recommended autumn reads, Kveller described it as “a beautiful book about grief and families, and a lovely tale about learning what it means to love.” Andrea’s first novel, Typecast, was recently recommended as a “Summer Reading Schmooze” by The Center for Jewish History, whose reviewer wrote, “Almost everyone in this novel, which takes place in suburban New Jersey, is Jewish. Jewishness is a given, not a source of angst.”

Dear Eliza centers on 26-year-old Eliza Levinger, whose world crumbled when she lost her mom to cancer ten years earlier. Eliza has finally rebuilt her life — only to lose her dad unexpectedly. Even more unexpectedly, at her dad’s shiva, her aunt gives her a letter from her mom, having been instructed to deliver it only after Eliza’s dad’s death. Inside the letter? A bombshell that upends all of Eliza’s relationships.
