Conversation (and Brunch) with Annette Libeskind Berkovits in the Activity Center (11:00am)

Please join us for a fascinating conversation with Annette Libeskind Berkovits, acclaimed author, poet and scientist. Annette will speak about her nomadic childhood and her remarkable family’s story of survival, resilience, adaptation and ultimately triumph as they navigated devastation and dislocation in the years before, during and after the Holocaust.

Annette was born in Soviet Kyrgyzstan in 1943 to parents who fled east in harrowing journeys when WWII broke out; she grew up in postwar Poland and the fledgling state of Israel before coming to America at age sixteen. She spent three decades as a science educator at the Wildlife Conservation Society in New York before turning to writing. Annette is the sister of internationally renowned architect Daniel Libeskind.

Annette’s books include her childhood memoir, Aftermath: Coming of Age on Three Continents; her father’s story, In the Unlikeliest Places: How Nachman Libeskind survived the Nazis, Gulags, and Soviet Communism; and The Corset Maker, a historical novel inspired by her mother’s life.
