Please join us on Sunday, July 13th at 3:00PM for a JOY Club presentation by Marisa Scheinfeld, based on her book, The Borscht Belt: Revisiting the Remains of America’s Jewish Vacationland, presenting photographs of sites where resorts once boomed in the Catskills. Marisa Scheinfeld was raised in the Catskills and her photography has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She is an Assistant Professor at SUNY Purchase and working on her second book. In 2022, she founded the Borscht Belt Historical Marker Project, with a group of artists and historians. The group is dedicated to commemorating the history of the Borscht Belt era, a celebrated era in American Jewish life, American culture and Catskill history. If you ever went to a Borscht Belt resort, or your family did, or you are just curious about the Borscht Belt, please join us.
