A Message to Parents with Children in Grade School Regarding Yesterday’s Tragic Accident

Dear WJC Parents,

We are all devastated by the tragedy that struck the MUFSD community yesterday.  As Dr. Sampson said, “There is nothing more difficult for a community to experience than the loss of life, and we know that everyone in the Mamaroneck and Larchmont communities is heartbroken by this news. We also know that the death of a child is particularly difficult for other children to process.”

There are no words or explanations for a moment like this, but we know it can be comforting to have someone to speak with and ask questions, a shoulder to cry on, or a safe space for expressing all of the many emotions you may be feeling. We want to offer ourselves as a resource for you. Your WJC family is here for whatever you or your children may need. Please reach out to any one of us.

In the meantime, our prayers are with the family, the families of the classmates, and with all of you. We will all hug our children a little more tightly this Shabbat. Please let us know if and how we can help.

In community and blessing,

Rabbi Jeffrey Arnowitz
Rabbi Cornelia Dalton
Cantor Ethan Goldberg
