Cheer on the WJC Softball Team

The WJC Softball Team is scheduled to Play for the Westchester Hebrew Softball League Championship this Sunday, October 14.  Standing in the way is B’nai B’rith, the 2017 Champion.

WJC and B’nai B’rith have been very competitively matched over the past couple of seasons, being responsible for three of the last four WHSL titles, and finishing first/second in the 2018 regular season standings.  During B’nai’s outstanding 2017 season, the Team swept WJC in a semifinal playoff doubleheader on their way to an undefeated season.  While WJC broke B’nai’s winning streak in the opening game of the 2018 regular season, B’nai beat WJC in May.  The last time these teams met in the finals was in 2015, when WJC captured the Championship by sweeping the series.   This Sunday marks the first time WJC has returned to the Finals since that time.

WJC is in a strong position entering Sunday’s Championship Competition.  Having beaten Congregation Sons of Israel (Ossining), Temple Beth El (Chappaqua), and shutting out B’nai B’rith (6-0), WJC remains the only undefeated team in this double elimination playoff series.  Thus, WJC needs only one win vs. B’nai B’rith to re-capture the Championship Trophy — while B’nai B’rith will need to defeat WJC twice on Sunday.  .

Please support your team in the quest for its fourth championship!  Come out and see some outstanding softball.  Join us this Sunday, October 14 at Gillie Field #2 in White Plains.  The first game of a potential doubleheader is scheduled for 8:45 a.m.  Hope to see you there.
