Join us in WJC’s Hendel Library for a conversation with Susan Weissbach Friedman about her engrossing first novel, Klara’s Truth. Klara is an archaeology professor who travels to Warsaw to meet newly discovered relatives of the father who mysteriously disappeared when she was a child. As she uncovers her past, Klara begins to find the wholeness, purpose and love she had been missing; and, amidst the vestiges of a once vibrant Polish-Jewish community, she sees hopeful signs of rebirth. The author, a psychotherapist for almost three decades, addresses themes of generational trauma and healing, both personal and communal, in this inspirational story. Come for an absorbing discussion of the novel, the author’s experiences writing and getting published, and her work as a trauma therapist.
