World Jewry Committee Presents
A Jewish Culture Series: Exploring Judaism Through TV + Film

Jewish characters have existed as long as the medium itself. But in recent years, these portrayals have become even more relevant and are taking on new forms with more radical opinions and commentaries on the world than ever before. In this 3-part series, we welcome a broad range of speakers to fill us in on contemporary Jewish characters.

Erin Carlson on Nora Ephron: I’ll Have What She’s Having

In “I’ll Have What She’s Having,” entertainment journalist Erin Carlson tells the story of the real Nora Ephron and how she reinvented the romcom through her trio of instant classics. She’ll tell WJC members about the famous orgasm scene at Katz’s Deli, how Nora navigated matriarchal Hollywood as a woman writer-director, her collaborations with actor muses Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, and more.
