Join us for an exciting new annual lecture series open to all WJC members and designed to guide you through every stage of your financial life. Kicking off on Sunday, October 20, at 3:00pm, we’ll delve into the complexities of retirement planning. From pre-retirement strategies to navigating life after work, we’ve got you covered.
Subsequent sessions will explore the challenges and opportunities of the “sandwich” generation, balancing career, family, and financial goals. And for those just starting out, we’ll provide essential tips on building a solid investment foundation.
Our expert speaker, Ben Quick, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. With over 25 years in the financial industry and currently serving as a Senior VP, Ben will share practical insights and engage in lively discussions. Join us for a fireside chat on retirement planning. Drawing on 25 years of experience, Ben will discuss successful and less successful transitions and the mindsets that can help you navigate this new chapter with ease.
Each lecture will be followed by a delicious dinner, providing a perfect opportunity to network and connect with fellow WJC members. Don’t miss this chance to empower yourself with financial knowledge and enjoy great company!
This multi-year program is sponsored by the Federman family to honor the long-standing and successful financial career of our long-time WJC member and friend, Miles Federman. The overall focus will be on the consequential financial decisions we all must address at various ages and stages of life.
The Federman family moved to Westchester in 1947 and became active in the WJC (originally called Hebrew Institute). As a boy, Miles was enveloped in the WJC family. Over the years he became active and took on many leadership positions including Treasurer, Vice President, and President of the Cemetery Association.
Miles Federman was born to run the halls of Westchester Jewish Center. His Father, Hy, an investment banker was president when the Sanctuary we now pray in was built. His Mother, Sylvia, was active in the Sisterhood and Hadassah. His sister, Joan, was the first Bat Miztvah in the new Sanctuary and Miles and his sons, Marc and Steven, were Bar Mitzvahed there. His sister Ruth was the first girl Bat Mitzvah at WJC.
Miles serves as treasurer, a member of the House Committee during one of the main renovations and, at this death in June 2023, was the President of the WJC Cemetery Association. He used his fiduciary expertise to enlarge the investment portfolio that allows Glenville Cemetery to be financially sound.
It is with this in mind that his family set up with Miles Federman Financial Literacy Fund to honor his memory, and we thank the Zweigs and the J.O.Y. Club for facilitating this lecture series in his name.
