World Jewry presents
It’s the summer of 1969. The Catskills was a summer retreat for the Jews, who were not allowed membership in the non-Jewish country clubs around the New York area. It was a safe place to be with people of the same religion and background, where the kibitzing was king. “A Walk on the Moon,” a new musical, transports audiences back to that time. Come to hear from WJC’s own Ruth Hendel, a Tony winning producer, Sheryl Kaller, a Tony nominated director, and Pamela Gray, the show’s writer and the original screenwriter of the film. We will hear and watch clips of Jackie Burns who recently stepped into the role of housewife Pearl who begins a fling with a free-spirited traveling salesman while spending the summer with her husband and kids in the Borscht Belt.
