Holocaust Learning and World Jewry Committees present
Not long ago, The Streiker Center (Temple Emanuel, NYC) hosted over 6,000 participants for a documentary and Zoom interview showcasing the film “Saul and Ruby’s Holocaust Band.” and now our congregation can meet Saul and Ruby too!
Saul Dreier, 96, drummer, and Ruby Sosnowicz 92, accordion, are musicians and Holocaust Survivors with an insatiable lust for life. Like many after the war, they moved to America, started careers and families, grew old, and retired to Florida… This could well have been the last chapter in their lives, but it wasn’t.
When documentarian director, Tod Lending met them six years ago, they had just formed ”The Holocaust Survivor Band,” the only one of its kind. The Mlm details how their life stories led up to this unusual union. Their dream was to perform in Poland, their homeland, where they endured unimaginable trauma during the Holocaust. Then and now, their mission is to spread a message of peace at a time when anti Semitism is dangerously on the rise and toxic intolerance is spreading throughout the world. It is through their music that Saul and Ruby have harnessed their own healing as they inspire us with their resilience.
At no cost to the congregation, the film, “Saul and Ruby’s Holocaust Band” will be available for viewing prior to the program. The event itself will be a ZOOM interview with Saul and Ruby along with director, Tod Lending.
