“Thank goodness for the gossip—it gets us through the day!” Life and death is in the power of the tongue, our tradition teaches us—and as we reflect on our deeds over the past year, we might pause at some of the words we’ve shared. Is Lashon HaRa a tool that can bring social and economic equity to a broken world, a destructive force that can never be used for good, or something else entirely? In these sessions we will explore traditional and modern approaches to Lashon HaRa and part with some of our excuses for enjoying it so much.
