Zalman Spivak is an Israel tour guide and Jewish educator with a passion for creating individual and group experiences, making traveling in Israel not simply a tour, but a masa – an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime journey. Zalman’s greatest passion is guiding through the land that he calls home. “Nothing is more gratifying than sharing my deep love and appreciation for Israel, combined with over 20 years of accumulated knowledge and experience.”
Born in Baltimore, MD, Zalman Spivak made Aliyah to Israel with his family in 1986.He served in the Nahal Infantry Unit of the Israeli Army. After his military service, he earned a BA in Jewish History and Comparative Religion from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, pursued studies in Education at Hertzog College, and worked towards an MA in Jewish Education at the Melton School for Jewish Education at Hebrew University. From 2007 to 2010, Zalman served as the Israeli shaliach (emissary) for the Jewish Agency and the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism in Los Angeles,focusing on engaging teens and university students throughout California and the US Southwest.
Zalman is a licensed tour guide certified by the Israel Ministry of Tourism and has since worked with youth and teen groups, Federations, synagogues, Christian groups, and families. Zalman has four children and lives in Nofey Prat, a young pluralistic Jewish community in the Judean Desert, where they enjoy hiking, reading and learning new things, playing games, baking and cooking. They regularly open their home to guests, and consider them all members their “extended family”.
