Yom HaShoah Commemoration: Memorial Service
Conversation/Brunch (11:00 am) with Jeffrey Veidlinger, historian and author of In the Midst of Civilized Europe: The Pogroms of 1918-21 and the Onset of the Holocaust
Join us for a compelling conversation with acclaimed author and historian Jeffrey Veidlinger who will shed a new light on the origins of the Holocaust and on antisemitism past and present. His talk will address the widespread pogroms that broke out in Ukraine over a century ago in the aftermath of World War I and the Russian Revolution. Learn about this often overlooked history of mass killings by local populations that set the stage for the destruction of European Jewry two decades later.
Books will be available for purchase and signing by the author. Jeffrey Veidlinger is Joseph Brodsky Collegiate Professor of History and Judaic Studies at the University of Michigan.
