Shalom WJC Family,
I am just back from a whirlwind tour of Alabama – Montgomery, Selma, Birmingham, and Tuskegee – with our WJC Civil Rights Journey. It was an incredible experience – enlightening, educational, and sobering. There is so much to tell, but we are still processing so please join me and some of our trip participants next week at Shabbat morning services on April 20th as we share experiences and thoughts about the trip. It’ll be just in time for Passover and I imagine what you hear may raise some thought provoking questions for seder.
Prior to hearing those experiences, we’re excited for a very special weekend this weekend. First, join us at any of our Pre-Passover Rabbi-in-Residence Events on Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday evening, and Sunday morning. Rabbi Dr. Josh Kulp, master teacher and creator of his own Haggadah Commentary, will be our guest teacher for Shabbat and Sunday brunch. See the details here.
Then on Sunday we are hosting a benefit klezmer concert from 3-5pm featuring “Elijah and the Not for Prophets.” There is a suggested donation of $36 with all proceeds going to benefit the residents of Kibbutz Reim. It breaks our hearts that the residents of Kibbutz Reim, like so many from the south and the north, will not be making seder in their homes this year. I hope you will join us for what promises to be a fun evening of Yiddisher music for the cause that will be on our minds and weighing heavy on our hearts this Passover,
All of that and a beautiful bar mitzvah on Saturday morning – on Shabbat morning Levi Sigel will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah. Mazal tov to Levi and his parents Erica and Zack.
See you in shul,
