Shabbat Shlalom ~ Emor 2024

Dear WJC Family,

Last week I wrote about the “Yoms.” One of the highlights of my observance of Yom HaShoah, Yom Haatzmaut, and Yom HaZikaron this year was the invocation delivered by my esteemed colleague Rabbi Les Bronstein. It was delivered at the White Plains Garden of Remembrance at the Westchester Community Yom HaShoah commemoration surrounded by thirty-seven Torah scrolls rescued from the Holocaust. I was so moved by the blessing that I asked Rabbi Bronstein if I could share it with you and he graciously agreed. You can read the blessing by clicking here. I hope it inspires you as it inspires me.

Next week I will be away for a week of vacation, so there will not be a video or message next week. Of course, Rabbi Dalton and Cantor Goldberg will be here to help you if you need anything and I look forward to connecting after I return. In the meantime, there will be no Saturday Morning Torah Talk on May 25 (Memorial Day Weekend).

One thing I do want to mention now so you can make sure it’s on your calendar is the Community Dinner, Rhythm & Ruach, and Author Talk on Friday evening, May 31. The Author Talk is with Joseph Sassoon who will join us to discuss his book “The Sassoons: The Great Global Merchants and the Making of an Empire.” Our Shabbat dinner will be a special Middle Eastern menu, in theme with our author talk.

I hope I see you this Shabbat in shul, but if not, have a great week and a meaningful Memorial Day Weekend.

See you in shul,
