Sign up to be a Host Family to an Israeli Student!

Be a host family to a delightful 18-year old Israeli student!

Watch the video and meet these terrific young people who will act as emissaries assigned to different synagogues, day schools, and JCCs around the county.

WJC is assisting the Westchester Jewish Council to find families to host 4 young people, known as Shinshinim, who will be spending a year in Westchester before they join the army.  Families are asked to commit to a 3 ½ month time slot and would need to provide a room and some meals.  The students would adapt to their host family’s lifestyle.  If the family sits down to eat together, the Shinshinim will join them when their schedule allows; if everyone fends for themselves the Shinshinim should made to feel comfortable to do the same. A strong bond develops between these two worlds—even to the point that some families have taken the Shinshinim to family gatherings, social events, and other activities.

WJC is looking for host families who can fill the following time slots:

  • 8/26/2018-12/2/2018 (14 weeks)
  • 12/2/2018-3/17/2019 (14 weeks)
  • 3/17/2019-6/18/2019 (13 weeks)
