WJC Teen Registration

Dear WJC Teen Families,

We hope everyone is having a healthy, fun, relaxing, and peaceful summer. The fall is almost here and we wanted to share with you some exciting news and plans for this year’s program. Following a busy spring of teen activities, our Teen Program has expanded for 2022-23 in terms both of staff and of new and varied opportunities for your teens.

We are happy to announce that we have hired AJ Rose McCormick (they/them) as our Teen Advisor. AJ’s responsibilities include helping to administer the Teen Program and connecting with teens and families. As a teacher in our Religious School over the past year, AJ is already a familiar presence at WJC and very popular among our younger students. Experienced in working with teens and across a range of Jewish leadership activities, AJ can’t wait to get to know your teens. See their bio below!

We are also fortunate to have an Israeli Shinshin, a young Israeli working with Westchester youth this year, who will join the WJC teens on Tuesday evenings and share his enthusiasm for Israeli life and culture.

As in past years, our teen program will meet regularly on Tuesday evenings between 6:00 and 8:00pm, with dinner served from 6:00-6:30pm, as well as at monthly Sunday activities and outings.

September Teen events will include:

Below, you can register your teen for our Tuesday evening Teen Program as well as indicate interest in participating in other ways.

Other opportunities for your teens this year include:

  • Teen Council where teens will meet regularly with Rabbi Dalton and AJ to help guide our program and serve as leaders for our teen community; Teen Council is open to all teens in grades 8 – 12.
  • An additional multi-synagogue teen learning program, made up of three modules (fall, winter, and spring) that will meet weekly at the JCC of Mid-Westchester in Scarsdale and will include dinner. Each module will take place on different days. This program will bring together teens from six Westchester synagogues! It is separate from the WJC teen program and teens are welcome to participate in either or both programs. For more information, please stay tuned (you can always email Rabbi Dalton (rabbidalton@wjcenter.org as well!)

Please feel free to reach out to me with questions about the Teen Program as we head into September. AJ and the parent members of our Teen Engagement Committee (below) are also happy to answer questions and chat with you about our program.

Warmly,

Rabbi Dalton
